On June 22nd, 2009 students from Mossman State Primary School headed down to Cooya Beach in Far North Queensland as part of the Far North Queensland Marine Debris Project.

The students had participated in a classroom presentation on the impacts of marine debris on the local environment prior to their visit to their beach and were keen to assist in protecting local marine life from rubbish that was left on Cooya Beach.
